Charts - Set Defaults? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Using CRM 2011 I can't seem to find a way to set default charts, either for system charts or personal charts.  Is there a way?

    Also, is there a way to keep charts on in Microsoft Outlook?  I will set the chart pane to the right where I want it for a particular view, but the next time I start Outlook it is off and I have to turn it on again.  If there is some way to pin the chart pane the way I can pin a tab, I don't see it.  I'd assume that charts should just stay where they are set but that does not seem to be happening.

  • Hi David,

    There is a way to set the chart as default but not via the customisation user interface strangely. If you export the chart, the final element in the xml is:

      <isdefault>false</isdefault>
    </visualization>

    So you can edit the <isdefault>false</isdefault> to 'true' and re-import.

    As for setting the chart pane to show by default in the Outlook views after re-starting Outlook, I haven't found a way to control this. It probably defaults to chart = off to improve speed.

  • Hi,

    You can set entity system chart (organization owned) as default by querying the database table SavedQueryVisualizationBase and change the attribute IsDefault value = 1 and offcource the first prioirity should must be to perform via customization XML.

    You can also set user defined charts as default by quering the database table UserQueryVisualizationBase and change the attribute the attribute IsDefault value = 1 and offcource the first prioirity should must be to perform by export chart Xml and changing IsDefault node value to true and then reimporting into system.

    With the product standard functionality, you can only pin Views not charts in outlook.

    I beleive this answers your question.

  • Hi,

    Is there a way to set the personal chart as default for any view? I tried setting the <isdefault>false</isdefault> to 'True', but didn't work.

    Thanks,

    Sushma.
