Help - How to get Auto Backup to work again? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Backup of my 3 computers was working fine until a few days ago - came home and the server was critical with the Backup service not running.  Tried everything to get it back working but no luck.  Finally tried a re-install of WHS but Backup service remained off.  Finally was able to delete all the backups using command prompt suggestion from this forum.  Now my backup service is back up and running and server is healthy.  But when I look at the server icons on the computers they are greyed out as not connected and when i open up the server control panel and go to Backups all my computers are listed but they are greyed out as if they are offline or turned off.  Obviously they won't backup.  Tried to reload Windows Home Server connector disk but it gives me an error message that this operation cannot be completed at this time.

  • First please make sure you have all updates installed on your server. Than you can either run "discovery.exe" from c:\program files\windows home server on each of the clients, or reinstall the connector software from http://yourservername:55000.
