  • Fixing a friends computer.

    Dead hardrive and did not have OS disk, so bought a hard drive and XP pro oem via Ebay.

    Install went fine.
     
    activation was good by phone.

    but failed WGA.

  • Hello Wrigly,

      I have looked up the key and it is Genuine.

      Would you go to http://microsoft.com/genuine/diag and click the Start Diagnostic button.  This will ensure XP is setup to allow it to Validate correctly.  (It also checks for common issues with the OS that can interfere with Validation).

      Once XP is showing all green checkmarks, click the Validate Windows button.  This should Validate your XP as Genuine which should make the Non-Genuine messaging go away.
