Make Quick Search search "contains" not "equal" RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Guys,
Is there anyway to change the search function in CRM to use a contains instead of equals. (Not an advanced find just the normal search function on the page)

    Thanks

  • I guess, you are asking about Quick Find View. If so then it searches on criteria “Equal to” and “Begin with”. If you use asterisk before the text to be searched then it means something near to contain. For example “*John”; it will show all the records with name containing John.

  • as Umar said, use * to do like wise search..

but if you want to make amendments or create your own custom search then you can do as mentioned in following articles...

  • I have found 2 ways to do this but both have issues, the first is to increase security and restrict the user from seeing other business unit contact records, this goes against our requirements so is not possible, the other is to search through the Advanced Find option, I very much doubt my users will regard this as a simple method.
