Business Unit lookup field permission

Question
-
I've created a 1:N relationship from Business Unit to Contract. I've added a lookup field on the Contract form. Everything works fine with some users with certain security roles. However, any user with the Salesperson role or Sales Manager role is not able to browse this new Business Unit lookup field. This BU lookup field is grayed out for them. How do we know which permission right to grant to Salesperson/Sales Manager role to enable this new Business Unit lookup field on the contract form? Many thanks in advance, Frank.Monday, May 4, 2009 3:06 PM

Hi auswire,
when they want to select a Business unit for a different entity, they need the "Append To" priviledge for Business units.
Set this right for both security roles and this should work.

Hi auswire,
in standard a Salesperson and a Sales Manager have read Access on Business Units by their security role. Have you changed this?
Best regards,
Jürgen

As far as I know, the wasn't any change to the Sales Manager/Salesperson role. This is a custom business unit lookup field that I created from the business unit entity, 1 to many relationship. The system business unit lookup is not available to the contract entity; therefore, I created 1:N relationship on the business unit entity so that the user can set their business on their contract form. The system administrator role can see custom lookup field, but not the Salesperson or Sales Manager. Is there a specific permission item on on the security role that I need to grant? Thanks! auswire

I notice that there is system Owning Business Unit lookup field in contract attributes, but the requirement level is set to read-only. So this lookup field is not avalable for adding to a contract form. Thanks, auswire.

That's the privilege that I need for the Salesperson and Sales Manager roles. Thanks a lot Jurgen, auswire.
