Help with simple workflow - need task to open immediately upon creating the workflow RRS feed

  • Question

  • This is a simple workflow.  Rather than create multiple tasks for a project, we have decided to create a workflow that lists the steps in the description field.  I set up several routine (but complex) workflows but the only problem is that, when i "create" a new one - i'd like for it to open up the task immediately so i can add pertinent notes.  Instead, the workflow just creates a task behind the scenes and then i have to go find it.

In short, how do i get the task that is created when i select the workflow to open immediately?

  • Hi Phil,

Workflows as you rightly said work behind the scenes asynchronously. Workflows cannot interact with user interface and that is the reason workflows cannot open the records that were created by them.

  • You might would like to consider using Process (Dialog) which allows user interaction. You may prompt user to enter the notes for the task and save it to the new task you will create in the process.
