    When using the MS CRM 2011 tool Import a Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Organization, it will also migrate all the data, even of custom entities, etc. from CRM 4.0 to CRM 2011, right?

     

    If not, where are some best practices with respect to data migration (from CRM 4.0 to CRM 2011) documented (on microsoft.com or elsewhere) ?

    Right!

    All you need to know is well documented in "Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Installing Guide.doc" in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Implementation Guide

    Basically you need to backup CRM 4.0 database, restore it to the new server and then run the import wizard.

    Be sure to meet all the pre-requisites.
