Windows says activated, but still shows activation warning? RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I go to accesories, system tools and validate windows, it says that my windows is already activated, yet after doing the latest updates, my computer now comes up with a not activated warning.

I ran the latest activation software diag tool and it says not activated, but yet again when I go to activate my windows, it says that I am already activated.

This is an oem version and is still on the same laptop and has never been on any other computer!

    can anyone help?

  • Problem: Genuine Validation Status: Not Activated

    Try the following:

    1. Reboot your computer into "Safe Mode".

A description of the Safe Mode Boot options in Windows XP

    2. Go to Start > Run and type: %systemroot%\system32  then press the Enter key.

    3. Locate these two files: wpa.dbl and wpa.bak

    4. Rename the wpa.dbl file to wpaold.dbl and wpa.bak to wpaold.bak

    5. Reboot your computer into Normal Mode. This will force activation on the following boot. Sometimes if those files get corrupted, they can cause this type of problem.
