How do I tell if Window Live One Care is working?

Question
-
I am a customer of Qwest and have an MSN Premium account, I did have McAfee as my security which I got thru MSN.. just a few days ago I was notified by Qwest that I could possibly have a trojan or other type of virus problem and I needed to get rid of it. Long story short here.. I just last night downloaded Windows Live One Care which de installed McAfee... not a problem as I didn't care for them anyway. But How do I *Know* that I now have Windows Live One Care on this computer and working? I see no icon in my task bar and I don't see any place on my computer to scan or check firewall setting or anything else like I had with McAfee... I need to know if my internet security system with Windows Live One Care is installed and working.
Thanks you in advance... this has been a very stress full few days.
Regards

You should have a green circle in the system tray with a "1" in it (or yellow or red) that appears when the PC starts. You should also have Windows Live OneCare on the start menu.
It is possible that McAfee didn't completely uninstall, but OneCare should have thrown an error at start. I suspect you installed OneCare, but it might not have loaded the icon at startup. Reboot the PC and wait a few moments before logging into Windows.
If you start OneCare from the start menu, does the program open? And what is your status at that point?
Note that Qwest provides support for OneCare, so you can reach out to them for further help.

Hello and Thank you for your reply. No I do not have a Green circle on my system tray. I did go and try and re install Live One Care last evening as I got a Blue Screen when I tried to restart my computer. But it indicated that the Window Live Care was on my computer. McAfee is not. I have no McAfee icon. I will try and power down and then reboot. Thank you for info that Qwest provides support.

If you haven't yet gotten this to work, try the following:
Run the McAfee Removal Tool - http://www.majorgeeks.com/McAfee_Consumer_Product_Removal_Tool_d5420.html
Then, just in case OneCare is partially installed, download and run the OneCare cleanup tool:
http://social.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/onecareinstallandactivate/thread/399071e2-49dc-4767-932d-d261e3965943/
Finally, download and install OneCare again, either from Qwest's site or the trial from http://onecare.live.com and after installation and reboot, you should see the icon appear *and* OneCare will throw a bubble message to alert you to some actions to take. Open OneCare at that point, click on subscribe and follow the instructions provided by Qwest to activate/subscribe with your Qwest LiveID to enable the free subscription.
When you initially installed OneCare, did it go through all of the motions and then tell you to reboot the PC when it was done to complete the installation?
