problem with GPS signal on Streets and Trips 2010

  While using the GPS "antenna" that came with my original Streets and Trips version around 2007, sometimes it cannot find a satellite when started, sometimes it works great, sometimes when I have a signal it will disappear on a clear day with no obstructions.  Do I need a new GPS "antenna".  I am using Windows 7 Home Premium on my laptop.
