Installing Office Communications Server 2007 R2 64 Bit On Windows 2008 Using SQL Server 2008 RRS feed

  • Question

  • With Greetings,
I am installing Office Communications Server 2007 R2 64 Bit on Windows 2008 x64 which already has SQL Server 2008 Standard edition on it.
In the middle of installation, OCS 2007 R2 tries to install SQL Server 2005 Express Edition and client. Since a higher version of this product exists, installation fails and exits.
Is there a way to instruct OCS 2007 R2 that SQL Server 2008 is already there and use it?
I really appreciate clues and hint.

  • Unfortunately, an OCS Standard Edition Front-End server can not be installed on a host that already has SQL Server deployed on it.  Standard Edition only works with SQL Server Express, and Enterprise Edition, although supports SQL Server, requires the back-end database to be on a separate server.  You'll need to install OCS on a different server, or remove SQL Server beforehand.
