email attachment - pre-assessment RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I want to send an attachment from my hotmail/gmail/parle mail and my server is allowing me only 5mb(as example) size attachment to send; then while attaching the file I get message “Attachment size exceeds allowable limits”. But if my server allows 5Mb attachment but the recipients server is set to accept only 4Mb size attachment then I get delayed error mail reply saying “Size exceeds allowable limits, rejected by xyz server “ .

I am of the opinion that just like in 1st case I get error/warning  message before attaching the file, I should get similar message in the second case before actually pressing send l. It will save botheration of resending same mail with smaller attachment; time and bandwidth both are saved. The sending server should and can validate policy of recipient servers and accordingly flash message before actually sending email.
