Live Mesh Re-installation Issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there, I've been using Mesh for a couple of weeks without a hitch.  I then joined the computer to a domain which obviously created a new user profile.  I moved all of the folders I was syncing from the old profile to the new, removed the PC from Live Mesh, uninstalled the Live Mesh software from the PC and then tried to re-install it.  However I keep getting the following error:

    Installer encountered errors.
Cannot create a stable subkey under a volatile parent key.

I've changed the PC's hostname but that's made no difference.  I've trawled through the registry and removed every entry that relates to "mesh" but no joy.  I've followed the other guides on the forum that relate to installation issues to no avail.

I'd be most grateful for any help/advice you could offer.

    Many thanks in advance,

    Steve.

  • Hi, just to update...

I've since updated the computer's SID (using NewSID), renamed the computer, rejoined the domain... all to no avail.

    Maybe I'm missing something obvious?

    Thanks.

  • I'm not sure if this will help, but that error is a Windows Update/AU error. Try downloading the latest WU Agent from here:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949104

If that doesn't work, please file a bug report with logs:
