Can't keep iTunes in sync

Question
-
I'm stuck and confused. Appreciate any wisdom you all might have.
I haven't been able to get iTunes to sync "new" purchased content. My office PC (named OFFICEHP) has itunes installed in its default location. error log is at the end of this post.
I looks like I have a problem with mediaggregation.exe. Clearly it looks like a path name to a file is too long but i'm not sure what to do about this.
any ideas?
thx,
Ira

Hi, please note this is windows home server forums.
Probably you are trying to store your files in some subdirectory which together with the filename has more then 260 characters, so the full path name + filename including extensions is more then 260 characters. To solve this problem shorten the directory and/or file names, or move the file locations up in the directory tree.- Proposed as answer by Lara JonesModerator Monday, September 22, 2008 3:53 PM

Hi brubber,
I think what Ira is trying to do is sync content on the client with the content on the iTunes server. It's a setting in the iTunes server on the HP MediaSmart machines where the aggregator searches for new content on the clients.
Ira, correct me if I'm wrong :)
And Ira,
brubber is correct, you need to either shorten the directory name or move the content up by actually removing a directory completely.
i.e.
\\my music\iTunes\iTunes music\Artist\Album\track.m4p
to \\my music\iTunes\iTunes music\Artist\track.m4p or \\servername\music\artist\track.m4p
whichever directory/name is beyond 260 characters.

Thx to both of you for the quick response. I should have been more clear in my original post.
I am running WHS on a HP EX475. The client PC in this case is a 64bit Vista Home Premium box.
I'll try shortening the directory structure tonight.

Did that fix your problem? I am getting the same error, but I've used a utility to identify the long files, and I believe I've shortened all of them.\
