I run XP sp3 on a Dell 600M portable, connecting to a home wireless network. Our main printer HP9670 is connected to the main computer directly. I've always been able to set up teh portable to print on the 9670. Then recently I replaced the hard drive with a larger one and cloned the new one from the old with 3rd party software. The 9670 shows up on teh 'add printer' dialog as an invalid printer. I have tried various ways to make it disappear, including uninstalling it from it's host. No change. This computer doesn't seem to see it on the network. 2 other computers on the same network see it and print to it just fine. Any ideas how to get the old listing to diasppear, and this machine to find it on the network? Thank you.
Hello, this forum is dedicated to the operating system Windows Home Server. So you ask your question on the wrong place. Maybe HP support sites would fit better. This being said, did you already try to download and install the most current drivers? Did you follow the steps usually outlined in some documents delivered with the printer or the drivers? On your client you could check in the Printers dialog the menu File/Server Properties/Ports if there is an old port listed and remove it from there. You may also trace the registry for remains of the old listing and delete those, but only if you know what you do, since wrong handling of the registry can render your PC unusable. Best greetings from Germany Olaf
