Printer question - HP RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've read a number of threads about HP printers not working with Home Server.  Unfortunately that was my #1 reason for using Home Server, to have a printer attached to it that both my wife and I can access from our laptops.

After a few days, I think I've officially given up on trying to get it to work with Home Server.  The question I have is: will I have better luck with Small Business Server?  As a Microsoft Partner I have both server OS's, but I don't want to spend a bunch of time installing SBS if I'm going to have the same problem.

Does anyone have experiece that can give me a heads up?

    Thanks.

  • Hi,
it does not depend from the server, it depends from the printer model. If the printer is a consumer model and the maker does not supply drivers which can be used on a server, you will be out of luck also with any other server OS.
A HP Laserjet 4050 runs very well here in an environment as workgroup printer shared via WHS.
