MCSE 2003 and MCITP: Enterprise Administrator RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am 1 test away from finishing my MCSE 2003.

I see that you can take 70-680 (Windows 7 TS Exam) to satisfy the elective requirement for MCSE 2003.

My question is that if I do that, finish my MCSE 2003, will it still count towards MCITP: Enterprise Administrator upgrade exams?

http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/mcse.aspx#tab4 shows possible upgrade paths, I just want to make sure if I take the 70-680 to satisfy the MCSE elective, that i can still take the 70-649 and 70-647  to be MCITP Enterprise Administrator...

On a side question, what benefits exist for becoming MCITP Enterprise Administrator and Server Administrator on Windows Server 2008 (both)?

  •  As far as I know it will count towards the MCITP upgrade exam. It
looks like if you only want the EA cert, you need to take 70-680,
    70-649, and 70-647.

The benefits for having both depend highly on the job market and how
seriously any particular company takes certification. Personally, I
think it is good to have both for getting a first interview where you
can use your experience to potentially land the job.
