Won't connect to WHS via console for just one PC? Others work fine RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I have an old EX475 pretty much stock except for the drives.
Been working fine, save for a drive failure a couple of years ago.

So we had a power outage and I rebooted the WHS. The console is black on my desktop tray but I can easily access it through shared folders.
Also, when I connect my laptop to the network the Console software connects with no issues. The server is healthy and running fine. I can arp -a and see it at xxxx.109. Which you'd expect since the laptop and everything else sees it and connects to it, inlcuding my Soundbridge.

So, I've ticked off the bypass proxy server, I've done the Netbios route which was suggest in other forums, I've rebooted the desktop and rebooted the router (which shouldn't matter since the WHS is clearly on the network)

I'm running out of ideas for this and this posting is a long shot since this is a pretty old and obsolete box but hey, why replace it if it does what it was supposed to...and up to last week...it was.

The issue is that the connector doesn't see the WHS on the network....but it is on the network..I've even suspended my AVG to see if that was the issue?

    Anyone got any ideas??

  • Sadly no one was able to help. I took the WHS out back last night and put it out of its misery with a single shot to the motherboard. Rest in Pieces damn box.

Just kidding. After trying all manner of fixes I dug up on the Net I tried a Winsock fix.....boom.....turns out that was the issue. Just in case anyone else runs across it.
