Live Meeting 2007 oulook plug-in Invite presenters RRS feed

  • Question

  •

    Hello,

when we use the Outlook Plug-in to Schedule a Live Meeting and we select an attendee to be Presenter, he is coming up as an Attendee not a Presenter once he Join the Meeting.

The attendee has an OCS 2007 account.

    Any Ideas??

  • I've found that this is one of the differences between OCS and the live meeting service. With OCS only the meeting creator is setup as a presenter and then s/he has to delegate that right once the meeting starts.

You can promote someone to be presenter when the Live meeting is running

  • Hi,

    I have a similar issue.

A user defines the presenters while planning the Live Meeting via Outlook Add-in but once the invitees join the meeting they have only the attendee role.

Apart from that the user is able to use Live Meeting without problems and when she joins the meeting she is also able to promote the users to presenter role during the session.

But as she normally just plans the Live Meetings but doesn't join herself the users are unable to share etc...

It is working fine for all other users that are planning Live Meeting so I don't assume that this problem is related to the OCS server configuration or the policy assigned.

Any ideas why this might happen or how to resolve the problem?

  • The user invites other attendees and that works fine

But she explicitely sets someone as presenter in the meeting request when that user joins he is not a presenter?

Inviting someone is not the same as making him/her presenter

  • Yes. She explicitely sets them as presenters in the meeting request.

She has the presenter role when she joins but the users that she defined as presenters during the planning don't have the presenter role when they join the meeting.

    That's the weird point :-(

I am absolutely sure that she's doing it right as I tested with the user myself and also assited her while doing the planning...

  • Just curious, Is the SIP address the same as the Email address?

Are you logging in from a client that has communicator installed?

Did you configure the account in Live Meeting?

  • Yes,. it is...

The SIP address and SMTP address are equal.

    Communicator is installed and working.

Also Live Meeting is working fine on the client according to the entry I made earlier.

The configuration of the account is correct, test connection is successful.

  • Have you installed the very latest clients?

    Livemeeting + Add-in

    Communicator

July 2008 update (but seems to be gone for some reason)

  • No, we have still older versions implemented but will approx. install the update for Communicator from July soon.

Could the problem really be caused by the older Client versions?

Because this is weird when there is only one user out of thousands facing the problem...

(The others all have the same client version as this user)

  • So you are saying this works for all your users except one?

Then you should try to disable him in Communications server and then re-enable him/her again for OCS

This might also be client software related

  • Hi,

tried with your suggestion and recreated the account on the OCS.

Unfortunately it didn't change anything :-(

I will now check if the user is facing the same problems on another client and if I can reproduce the problem on her client.

If both works I will just get her a new NT profile...

Further ideas are always welcome ;-)

    Thanks.
