Windows 10 Product key RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have upgraded my windows 7 ultimate version on my Alienware M18x to windows 10 pro version from inside the windows 7 via the upgrade option. My windows is activated. Now if I ever want to reinstall a fresh copy will I need to enter the product key, If so where can I find my product key now? Please note I have never needed to enter my product key whenever I reinstalled my windows 7 ultimate since I always used the windows media provided by Alienware.

  • There are no unique "keys" for windows 10.  When you upgrade it validates the qualifying OS and registers the hardware with the activation server and any time you need to re-install it checks with those server to determine eligibility

  • I downloaded the ISO of Windows 10

Did a clean install, not an upgrade.

Put in my Windows 7 key - did not work

had to continue with no activation

How do I get a key when I am clean installing and not upgrading
