What is the referral key for and how do I use it? RRS feed

    I've installed Office 2007 for a customer's newly purchased PC with Office 2007 with the OPK Master Kit for OEM use.

     

    I've used the product key from the customer's end user license/activation pack (the medialess license kit - MLK).

     

    During the install an optional 'Referral Key' was requested, but I couldn't find a white sticker anywhere on the packaging.

     

    Can someone explain what the Referral Key is for and where I can find it?

    If a box appears on the screen to type a 8-character referral key, you may leave the box empty. The referral key is not required to activate.

    So what is the referral key for?  As a Microsoft partner and system builder is this referral key important to me and why?
