How do I share a folder off an external drive like the ones that can be viewed on the shared folders tab on website? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Looking to set it up to were a folder on my external drive (attached to WHS) is shared out and visible on the web site after login, under the Shared Folders tab.  Is there a way to do this or make it visible in some other way?  Would like to be able to remotely access those files.  Can't use an FTP program.  Blocked at work.  I can get to all the other default folders though.  Thank you in advance for your help in this.

  • No. Every share effectively exists simultaneously on every drive in the Storage Pool; Windows Home Server Drive Extender (the technology behind the storage pool) controls where the actual files in the shares are stored based on internal algorithms.

  • Hi,
sharing folders on an external drive is not working well, because the drives are often not ready, while the sharing process is already running through. On the other side only folders shared via console are accessible from the Website.
So what you try to accomplish is not easy to realize and not supported by Windows Home Server.

  • When you create a share via the console, it doesn't seem to allow you to specify where the folder is.  Is there a way to do this?
