I tried to merge this thread with your earlier one - but the forums are having problems at the moment, so this is the best I could do....
The Key in use is an MSDN Key from a not-for-resale MSDN account.
Unless you are an MSDN subscriber, you are not entitled to use the Key – and whoever sold it to you was not entitled to do so.
You need to claim an immediate refund from the vendor - do NOT accept the offer of a new key (all they are trying to do is to get past the 45-day claims window or avoid you sending the evidence of their crimes to the authorities)

The pirates have got VERY good at this over the past few years, as the price of equipment for manufacturing the packages drops, and as factories open in less well-policed countries.

Please create a new thread of your own, and post an MGADiag report - you may have a totally different problem
To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool
(download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
- **in your own thread**, please
Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

Noel,
I am new to these forums have not been able to add a new thread. However firstly I am able to update Windows 7 ultimate but get the message that it is an illegal build 7601 - black screen. The pc I am using is a Philips Laptop Intel core Duo U250 1.2 ghz 2 gb am 32 bit. It was originally supplied with Windows Vista Ultimate via a company calledDSG. In March 2011 I purchased via Amazon Windows 7 Ultimate which was supplied on CD with a COA BTS-2715006-MSIN I had to break the seal to install which I did successfully. This ran ok until 2 months ago when I started getting illegal software messages every time I started my laptop. As requested I have run the diag program as follows:
