CRM Deployment on Same Domain RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear All,

We have CRM 4 working on a domain (let's say "CONTOSO"). Can we redeploy CRM 4 on the same domain in different server ? Is there any conflict will come after doing this ? And will it add anything to the "PrivUserGroup" or anything on the active directory?

    BR,

    Nag.

  • Hi Nag,

If you redeploy in the same domain, then there can be no conflict with the users and also the crm server groups.

If you use the same organizational unit also, it doesnt matter the crm creates crmserver groups with different guids.

  • Hi Mohiddin,

I have one more question. Can we install CRM with the same deployment administrator ?

What i mean i want to install(clone) live crm as Test & Dev in different servers. Can I install using live deployment administrator user?

  • Hi Nag,

Yes you can. The process would be very similar to moving a CRM deployment (only you won't delete to other deployment!), so you may want to refer to this guide as it covers the process for importing backups of the live organisation databases.

  • Hi Nag,

You can use any user to install CRM, but the user should have local administrative permissions. And when you install CRM, CRM server will take care of remaining things.

You can use same user for multiple server installations in the same LAN. Its not the problem.

When you redeploy the organization, make sure these things should be done.

    1) Complete the CRM installation

    2) Install the update rollup 12 on the CRM server : http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=a80147f8-130e-492d-93d3-e16e6b2e2fa1&displaylang=en

    3) Please add the following registry keys on the CRM sever:

    a. HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\MSCRM key

    b. Right click on the blank space ,New ? DWORD value

    c. Enter the key named OptimizeOrgImport.

    d. Modify the value of the key to “1”

    4) Add the following registry keys to increase the timeout values as specified in the KB article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918609 [Method 1]

    5) Launch the Deployment Manager and Import the organization with the Import Organization wizard

    regards,
