Office Validation Error after download and installing IE7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I purchased my Dell laptop with MS Office Small Business Edition 2003 and Business Contact Manager.  Everything was working fine until I downloaded and installed IE7.  Now when I try to do any Office updates I get a validation error.  It seems to indicated that Office has not been activated even though it is active and I was using it just fine before.  This machine has not been into the shop or any of the other scenarios listed as common causes in the forum threads I've read.  I have the original CDs with COA.

I deleted the OPA11.DAT file and forced Office 2003 to reactivate and register.  That cleared the problem and all modules passed the MGA validation.

    Consider this case closed.

  • Edward,

It is publisher that isn't activated and in turn may be causing activation issues for your other products.  Please review knowledge base article (KB) How to troubleshoot problems that you may experience when you try to activate a 2007 Office product @:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919895, and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903275/en-us for Office Suites 2003 and below.  Please reference the following site for activation and registration centers for Microsoft products:   http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326851 .  The KB article will provide numbers to call for activating Microsoft products.
