Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Forum.  The purpose of this forum is the support of Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) program.  Your question is within the realms of Vista Support (i.e. installation, general questions, etc.) I suggest posting your question to the Discussions in Windows Vista General Forum newsgroups here:

The upgrade is dependant on what it is upgraded from.  On a Windows XP computer, if you boot from the Vista DVD, you wil not have the option to perform an upgrade as it will be greyed out. In order to upgrade you have to be

running Windows XP OS and then insert the Vista DVD and run the installation from there.

If you should have other non-WGA questions please visit our other communities for helpful information here:  http://www.microsoft.com/atwork/community.mspx .  Thank you for visiting the forum.
