Multiple Organizations: Pointing problems with DNS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi!
I have several organization which all work fine pointing http://localhost/"orgname". Now I'd like to point them with another name like http://"orgname".xxx.yy. Setting DNS, but it points still to another organization (default). You cannot use HostHeaders because CRM hast just one website in DNS... :-(
How do you solve this problem?

    Thanks for the help.

  • Hi,

If you will be accessing orgname.xx.yy from outside your network you need to run the ifd config tool?

After running the ifdconfig tool crm will reply to orgname.xx.yy and go to the correct organiztoin via IFD.

  • Thanks. Externally is everything ok via IFD, but internally....

  • Ah - so you want orgname.xxx.yyy to also work internaly.  By design this will work, but will bring you to the IFD login page and not the integrated authentication.

So is what you are trying to accomplish is automatic login when users enter orgname.xxx.yyy internaly ??

  • No, it brings me to any organization (default) and not the right one. So if I have 3 organizations with created DNS-entries, every different DNS-Entry points to the CRM-Server and by typing the URL it opens for all 3 organizations the same default organization!!

  • Does the dns prefix match your org name exactly?

This works ok from outside your organiation but not inside.  Inside you always go to your default org?

After running ifdconfig tool, did you do an iisreset?

Do you have update rollup 6 installed?

  • yes. the dns name is exactly the same as the organization name.

inside it points me always to the same default organization. in my opinion the only way to solve that is with the ifd tool, but i don't know exactly how to do that? exclusions?

yes, i've always done iisresets and i have ur 6 installed.

  • yes - definately install and run the ifdtool.  List your internal network ip range in the address list.
