How do you invoice customers for a deposit and then the remaining amount? RRS feed

  • My client is a company who sends invoices to their customers for deposits from an order and then, once the customer has paid the deposit, provides their services and products to the customer.  Once the job is complete, my client then invoices the customer the remaining amount. 

    Therefore is there any way using the inbuilt functionality or with some minor development to be able to manage deposits within Dynamics CRM 2011?

    The user needs to:

    1. Generate a Quote with a list of quote items - can do
    2. Create an Order from the Quote - can do
    3. Determine based on, say, a percentage, the deposit required by the customer - ?
    4. Create an invoice to the customer for the deposit for the job showing the line items from the order i.e. what the customer is paying a deposit for - ?
    5. On receipt of the deposit from the customer, the job is carried out and then an invoice is created of the remaining amount - ?
