Summing the number of related records RRS feed

  • Question

  • I would like to create a field on my Account Form named "Open Opportunities". I would like the field to calculate the number of open opportunities related to the Account I'm on and display that number as an active link. If the value is like 3, clicking the number 3 would open a list vied displaying Opportunities with a filter set to Status = Open and Account = (Chosen accountnumber).

This functionality is available in Dynamics NAV and I would love to have it in Dynamics CRM

I have seen in the form designer in the left side, that summing up is not impossible.

  • You can create a Rollup field to do the calculation and display the count on the account form. Rollup fields are recalculated on a schedule (every hour).

Or, you could add a grid to the account form that shows the open opportunities, and the grid will show a count of the records at the bottom

  • For this you have to create a text field as hyperlink of related opportunities record view.

Create plugin on association and de-association to update that text field.

Hope this helps. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Santosh Bhagat If this post answers your question, please click "Mark As Answer" on the post and "Vote as Helpful"
