Adding a PC after subscribing RRS feed

    I just purchased a subscription, registered, and now want to add my son's PC to the subscription. I cannot find the product key, and when I get on his PC to add it using my live.com info, it will not allow it.  HELP!

  • Adding the second PC requires that you activate/subscribe with the subscription LiveID and password used to create the subscription during the initial activation. You can't use the key again.
     

    If you are arriving at a screen to purchase or provide a token, you are likely not using the same LiveID as the subscription ID.

     

    On the first PC, open OneCare and click Help and then About to see your Subscription ID. That is the LiveID to sign in with.

     

    EDIT: I just re-read your post after I posted this. If you *just* purchased, you may wish to confirm that your subscription is active by signing in at https://billing.microsoft.com with your subscription LiveID. If it is and you cannot activate on your son's PC, you may want to contact support.


    If you don't recall the LiveID you used for your subscription, you will need to contact support who can provide that information to you using your Key and/or contact information.

    Alternatively, sign in at http://billing.microsoft.com/ with email addresses that you have set up as LiveIDs and one will show your subscription listed - that would the LiveID to use to activate with.

  • Hi J.R. Baker,

     Just install OneCare on your son's pc using your Windows Live ID that you used in your pc

    *Once you used your product key in the first installation, during activation, that key is then registered in your Windows Live ID credentials. So the second time you install OneCare in second or third pc, just use your Windows Live ID you used in your first installation.
