Hi,
All users in our support team are experiencing an error when attepting to use Technet Search.
"Webpage error details

URI: (Link removed as account not yet verified, however RequestReducedScript.js is the last aspecte of it.) Will post updated link when I have verified the account)Due to application compatibility issues we are an IE 8 with JRE 1.5.x rather than JRE1.6/7. Im of the mindset that this is a JRE related issue with 1.5.x however would appreciate some input from the community if they too have seen the above error.
Its unfortunate as it effectively renders Technet unusable from my support team, as all searches fail.
Thanks
Damon

Hi Damon,
We'll need more information to troubleshoot this issue.
Can you let us know more spefically which search bar is causng this issue? For example, Bing search bar at the TechNet frontpage, or the search bar for forums or the search bar for search within the forum.
Also what content is being searched? are there special symbols/charaters that may be causing the search error?
What browser/OS are you currently using that caused the error. Have you tried using other browsers as work around.

Hi, apologies for the lengthy delay.
This happens from both the Bing Search bar within "Technet" and the Forums Search option. Same error
As mentioned in the original post, we are an IE8 with JRE 1.5.08 environment, running on XP Service Pack2. The site is classied as Internet Zone within our Zonemap, however adding it to Trusted sites (through Group Policy) does not resolve the situation.
The option of using other browsers is not workable, we are a financial instituion with restrictions on software. IE is our only supported browser.
Thanks
