MS Exchange and Homeserver RRS feed

  • Question

  • Can MS Exchange be loaded on to Homeserver? My needs are less than Small Business server and greater than current configuration of homeserver. I have my own email address on my local Domain and a website for the domain. I think home server is more what I need than SBS 2003.

  • Exchange can't be installed on Windows Home Server. It requires a domain controller, while the Windows Home Server EULA explicitly prohibits promoting your server to a domain controller, and joining it to a domain (also against the EULA) will result in it rebooting every hour.

For small business use, SBS is a much better choice.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)

  • You still need to setup a domain, which is unsupported on WHS

Did not see anything specific for Exchange, but may need to start here
