Error Code 0x80070005 received after failing to install Service Pack 3 for Windows XP. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Right now I have Service Pack 2.  I tried to install Pack 3 twice (once through Automatic Updates & once through the Microsoft  Windows Update website).  The files downloaded with no problem.  Halfway through the installation it fails and I received the Error Code 0x80070005.  I then followed the link to Windows Update Newsgroup to see if someone else had the same problem.  I read a response from PA Bear [MS MVP], ran the diagnostic and included it below.  Thank you in advance for whatever help you can give me.
