  • Question

  • Twice now I have tried to install Kepersky antivirus and after each install Vista re-boots then tells me my copy is not genuine ( strange as the copy was downloaded from Microsofts web site ) ..   This is now getting frustrating and time consuming having to reboot in safe mode and reverting to last known good configuration ... If I didnt know better I would suspect Microsoft would rather charge you to use their antivirus than let you go out and try best of breed software.

What is the exact version number of Kapersky you're trying to install? We've installed Kapsersky 7.0 on our internal test machines and we cannot reproduce the issue you're mentioning.

Also, i would suggest going to www.microsoft.com/genuine and clicking Validate Office as your current Office Professional 2003 installation is nonGenuine.

    Thanks!

Can you run the MGADiag.exe tool (documented above in the sticky posts)?

Also what happens when you go to www.microsoft.com/genuine and clicking Validate WIndows?

  • What version of Kapersky are you using? It looks like Kaspersky AV 7.0 has been through the Windows Quality testing labs to recieve the "Certified for WIndows Vista" award.

  • Currently if I register with Microsoft genuine it registers ok but as soon as I try and install Kapersky the machine re-boots and shuts me out telling me I have an illegal copy.
