If you have never used the CD before to install on another PC, take the CD back to the store for an exchange as the key has been used.
If you are using the CD to add more PCs to your subscription, use a different LiveID and enter the key when prompted. Note that you would not get the "max installs" when entering a key, you would get a message that the key was already used and a message on how to add OneCare to your subscription by using the same LiveID.
I'm moving this post to the Install/Activate topic folder.

i have reached the end of 90 day free trial period and tried to install the CD for the first time and it does not work. the problem is not with the drive as another cd works in it. this is SO annoying as i purchased this program and to have to make a special trip to get a new cd and have it installed is v. inconvenient. is there some way that tech support can allow installation via the internet instead?Saturday, November 22, 2008 1:17 PM

Hello Eggrabit, download the One Care trial again - http://onecare.live.com/standard/en-us/3/default.htm then open One Care, select "Subscribe" and follow the wizard to the payment page. On the payment page select "Pre-paid PIN or Token" as the payment method and enter the 25 digit product key from the CD package.
