  • General discussion

  • I purchased live one care today and have had no luck in being able to download, install or even find the activation code. everytime I try to download One care I can't get any further than being asked to pay again! I've gotten the E-Mail confirming my purchase, but without any kind of activation code. What am I supposed to do now??

  • If you purchased online from the OneCare site, there is no activation code. You install the trial and then click Subscribe. Sign in with the *same* LiveID that you used to purchase OneCare with. Your subscription is associated with the LiveID and will be used to activate/subscribe for up to 3 computers and during any reinstall.

  • I am frustrated.  I had a Live OneCare trial.  Today it says I have "1" day left so I decided to go ahead and sign-up, but my windows live ID is my email address---but  with a ".com" extension----not my real email address that has a ".net" extension.  Before I purchase, i want to make sure that email will come to my real email address.  I've tried to add my real one and also to change the one that is listed, and it won't let me do it.  I've tried all kinds of ways.  UGHHHH.  I'm ready to give up and just go use some other virus software.  This is very frustrating and a very not-user-friendly site! Please help!

  • Yes, you can use your email address as a LiveID and the confirmation will come to that address. You don't need the confirmation, though. You can confirm your subscription after purchase by signing in with the LiveID at https://billing.microsoft.com - your LiveID is used to activate the subscription on subsequent installations.

If your email address is not already used as a LiveID (in Messenger, for example), go to http://account.live.com to sign up for a LiveID and choose the option to use your existing email address.

  • stephen,

I have a similar problem, only this time i have log into the microsoft billing and account management website, it states all my info and that i have paid for the service, service also says enabled. But its not showing up when i  open up onecare, it still shows that my subscription is going to expire . is there anyway to enable the service without paying to renewal again?

Renewal takes effect on the date that your current subscription expires and that it can take up to 24 hours for the subscription status to be updated in OneCare if you are renewing within 30 days of expiration and 5 days if renewal was performed between 90 and 30 days before expiration.

     You can try the following:

    • Check your PC date and time.
    • Check your subscription status by logging in with your subscription LiveID at http://billing.microsoft.com
    • Confirm that this is the same LiveID shown to be the Subscription ID in OneCare - Help/About…
    • Open OneCare and click "Check for Updates" to have OneCare check for updated credentials

If your subscription is correctly shown at the Billing site, but incorrect in OneCare and your PC date and time are correct, please contact support.
