CRM web application Testing RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Can anyone recommend the best preferable test tool to test web application which is developed over CRM ?

My team is currently creating a new web app using CRM/xRM by adding new solution and customizing it as per the requirements. We have been investigating which tool to use for testing the functionality of our web app. We tried different tools but failed to record-playback the scripts (for automated testing).

So, looking for help here, if someone can recommend any tool that works well with CRM web app.

    Thanks,

    P.L.

  • Hi,

    Try this: http://crmperftoolkit.codeplex.com/

    Further info here: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/crm/archive/2008/02/29/microsoft-dynamicstm-crm-4-0-performance-toolkit.aspx

With this you can use the 133 out of the box crm test scripts or write your own (it runs in Visual Studio) and can simulate upto a load of 2000 users. The tool returns test results for each page request and transaction request and gives you the average times. You can also pull perfmon metrics from any of your SUT machines into your test for incorporation in the playback graphs.

    I hear a 2011 version may appear around May/June 2011.

  • If you want to do web based CRM Functional testing besides the performance testing, you may consider using WATIN: http://watin.sourceforge.net/. It's a general web app testing tool, may not work 100% with CRM 2011 web app. Give it a try, please let us know what's your experience - I'm curious :-)
