Rollup or Service Pack?

Hi,

We have a user with an issue in their CRM 2013 Outlook Client.

They have rollup 1 and 2 installed on their machines, but we have been instructed by Microsoft Support to install Service Pack 1.

Now i'm a bit confused because i've never seen service pack 1 available in our wsus. A quick google indicates that it is available but the version numbers are of a lower version to rollup 2. If i search for the KB number in the Microsoft Update Catalog it isn't available.

Update Rollup 1 Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 for Microsoft Office Outlook06.00.0002.0046

Can someone please explain why service pack 1 is being asked to install when it is an older version to rollup 2.

CRM 2013 Update Rollup 1 and CRM Service Pack 1 are two different releases:

Update Rollup 1 (the oldest one) is this:

Service Pack 1 (the one MS support asked you to install) is this:

Crm 2013 Service Pack 1 is a higher version number than Crm 2013 RTM Update Rollup 2

SP1: 6.1.0000.0581
UR2: 6.0.0002.0046

The minor version (second part of the version number) takes precedence over the third.

Actually in the future, CRM 2013 will have two routines.

One: CRM 2013 RTM->UR 1->UR 2->UR x....

Another: CRM 2013 RTM->UR 1->UR 2->SP1->SP1 UR x....
