  • Your Diagnostic Report still shows the same OEM SLP key being used

    Windows Product ID: 89572-OEM-7332166-00026
    Windows Product ID Type: 2
    Windows License Type: OEM SLP

    New Report :

    Windows Validation Data-->
    Validation Status: Invalid License
    Validation Code: 50
    Cached Online Validation Code: 0xc004c4a7
    Windows Product Key: *****-*****-TQVXJ-8RKRQ-RJC9V

    Windows Product ID: 89572-OEM-7332166-00026
    Windows Product ID Type: 2
    Windows License Type: OEM SLP

Computers, which are built by large manufactures that come with Windows Pre-Installed, come with two (2) Product Keys:

    A)    OEM SLP: This key comes pre-installed in Windows, when it comes from the Factory. This key is geared to work with the OEM Bios Flag found only on that Manufacturer's computer hardware. So when Windows was installed using the OEM SLP key (at the factory) Windows looks at the motherboard and sees the proper OEM Bios Flag (for that Manufacturer and that version of Windows) and Self-Activates. (that's why you did not need to Activate your computer after you brought it home)

    B)     COA SLP: This is the Product key that you see on the sticker on the side (or bottom) of your computer.

So, if you had entered the Product Key from the CoA sticker, your Diagnostic Report would not be showing the same OEM SLP key.  Please try the steps again and be sure to enter the Product Key from the sticker.

    Thank you,

Your product key should be on a label on the case of the machine  - you will need it before attempting any repair. If you still cannot find it, try contacting HP support - they may have a record of the key that was issued to your machine.
Once you have the Key, you need to change the product  key using the link on the System Properties page, at the bottom.

For which Windows version and Edition is the COA Label?
From what I can see on the HP website, these notebooks came only with Vista and Win7 - but you may have got an odd one.
The problem with the report is the small section I highlighted in my first response - the SLIC table is invalid.
This can mean one of two things - either the table itself in the BIOS is corrupted somehow, or the OS is unable to read it properly due to corruption in the OS.
We can try to fix the former by re-flashing the BIOS with a later one - but that is hazardous territory, as a bad flash can turn your PC into an expensive doorstop.
So I suggest that - if your COA sticker states that it's for Vista Home Basic - we instead try to fix any problem in the PC's Licensing store.
Please try the below steps to recreate the Store with the correct data.

    1) Open an Internet Browser window.
    2) Type: %windir%\system32 into the browser address bar.
    3) Find the file CMD.exe
    4) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select 'Run as Administrator'
    5) Type: net stop slsvc  (it may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
    6) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing
    7) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
    8) Type: cd %windir%\system32
    9) Type: net start slsvc
    10) Type: cscript slmgr.vbs -rilc (It may take a long time for this to complete, please be patient)
    11) Restart your computer twice.
    12) You may be required to enter the Product Key and/or Activate.

report back with a new MGADiag report, any error messages receieved, and whether you are still getting non-genuine notifications.

You missed out the space between .vbs and -rilc - so windows thought this was a new file-type

  • I tried the above steps and entered the product key, the result was "The copy of windows you are using does not pass genuine validation. To use all windows features, your copy of windows must be validated as genuine now". Then I goes to validation process and the result says "The validation service is unable to determine whether this copy of windows vista is genuine".                               The new MGADiag report                                                                                 Diagnostic Report (1.9.0027.0):

    Thank you,
