Vista Validation/Activation problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have the same problems. Purchased my laptop 4 years ago and have the same error message. Followed your instructions with no luck. When I got up to step 10 of your instructions. It states that it can't find script engine VBScript for script C:\Windows\System32\slmgr.vbs

When I run the MGADIa this is the report after following your steps up till step 10.

  • It means we have to do some hunting :)

What Anti-Virus program is currently installed?

What other AVs have EVER been installed on this machine?

Please open an Elevated Command Promp window, and run the following commands...

    REG QUERY HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{B54F3741-5B07-11cf-A4B0-00AA004A55E8} /S
    REG QUERY HKCR\VBS\CLSID
    REG QUERY HKCR\VBScript\CLSID

Here are some instructions to make life easier :)

    1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.

    2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.

    3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.

  •   CScript Error- Can't find script engine VBScript -alternate solution   should help.

If not, please give the EXACT error messages you get when attempting the fix.

  • I clicked on the alternate solution link and when I had saved the new code as regfix.reg I get the error message below.

Cannot import C:\Users\sarahannl\Desktop\regfix.reg: Not all data was successfully written to the registry. Some keys are open by the system or other processes.

    What does that mean?
