  • Your Windows operating system is genuine!  However, your installed copy of Office is not genuine.

    From your MGA report:

    OGA Data-->
    Office Status: 114 Blocked VLK 2
    Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 - 114 Blocked VLK 2

    You have a non-genuine copy of Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 installed.  It is a Volume License copy installed using a product key that has been reported to Microsoft as lost, stolen or misused by the original owner of the Volume License.

    You can review your options by visiting
    Microsoft Genuine Advantage and clicking on Validate Office.  When validation fails, you will be presented with a Get Genuine button to click on.

  • Mr. Frisch,

    I have the CD's in my possesion.  They are genuine.  Now I have many Dell Computers and I have reformatted my HD a couple of times. Of course I reinstalled Office from CD's.   I never suspected that each computer was "married" to  a certain exact copy of the OFFICE installation.  How am I supposed to know which cd's belong to which computer?

  • Hello LDFalco,

    Licenses for Windows and Office that are preinstalled by the computer manufacturer (in your case, Dell) are permanently married to the exact computer onto which they are first installed and are not permitted by the End User Licensing Agreement (EULA) to be moved to or installed to any other computer.

    In your case, for the computer that generated the report you posted above, neither the license for Windows XP Pro nor the license for Office Pro 2003 that are currently installed on that computer came from Dell, because both are Volume Licenses.  Dell does not preinstall Volume Licenses for Windows or Office on computers sold to individual consumers or small or medium sized businesses.

    In order to find out what operating system each of your Dell computers is licensed to run, just look for the certificate of Authenticity affixed to each computer.

    Each Dell computer that was purchased with a license for Office preinstalled will have been shipped from Dell with a plain white cardboard CD sleeve.  In the sleeve will be genuine hologrammed Microsoft CDs for the edition of Office that was purchased with each computer.  Affixed to this sleeve is the Certificate of Authenticity for Office with the Product Key that would be used to reinstall Office as required.

    If you have several Dell computers that were each purchased with licenses for Office preinstalled, check your Dell invoice or the Original Configuration page of the Warranty section of each computer's support page at http://support.dell.com (enter each computer's service tag) to find out what edition of Office shipped with each computer.  If more than one shipped with the same edition of Office, try narrowing down the possibilities by using the Magical Jellybean keyfinder utility to extract the product key used to install Office (http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/).
