  • Question

  • Kind a new here, when this Not Genuine pops up on my Acer aspire 5735z. Actually I did not purchase this laptop it was been given to me by a redemptorist priest named Patrick "Paddy" Martin, unfortunately he died a months ago, leaving a message that he will give this laptop to me. Before that we had a conversation about computers and he told me that he will upgrading the Vista OS (OS was together with the computer upon purchasing) to Windows 7 because vista needs a big amount of memory on your HDisk,  I knew that this laptop was a genuine windows vista and was upgraded to windows7 by Fr. Martin.

When I got the laptop after he died, the Os was fine and windows 7 is already activated on the system screen, it was really fine all along for a month now, then suddenly it pops up that it is not genuine, it happens when i installed the bluetooth usb dongle together with its driver bluesoleil.

I used the cmd.exe and scanned the computer, reboot, but still not genuine.

I used the system restore and restore the computer before the bluetooth was installed and still its not genuine.

Please help me, I don't know the product key of the windows7, because all the files of this laptop was been erased before i got it from the redemptorist church.

But i the SN of windows vista was sticked below the laptop, and the serial no was : <deleted> Maybe father Paddy upgraded windows vista to windows7 ultimate online, and he is gone now and i dont know how to get the key.

i had used the MGADiag and here is the report:

please help me with this matter..

PLEASE edit out your Vista product key - unless you really want it to be blocked!!

The installation of Windows 7 on this machine has been done with an HP recovery disk, while the machine is an Acer.
A Loader hack was installed to fool the OS into thinking it was installed on an HP machine.
The installation of Office is using a Blocked Volume License Key - and is counterfeit.
This is almost certainly because your benefactor was defrauded by an unscrupulous vendor.

Unfortunately the history would probably mean that there's no chance of getting a refund from the vendor.
Do you have the original Vista Recovery disks from Acer? - is the Acer Recovery partition still intact (I doubt it, but stranger things have happened)
If you have the Acer recovery disks, you need to use them to restore the system back to its licensed Vista install.
If you don't have the Recovery disks, then you need to contact Acer and purchase a set from them for your machine - they are usually fairly inexpensive (I've seen prices from US$25 to UK£50)

If you want to continue with Windows 7, then you have a few options - none of them cheap.
First check that Windows 7 is supported on your laptop, and that drivers will be available from Acer's site, then decide how you want to proceed from the options below:_
Note that in all cases, a full reinstall is recommended, as the pirates may have installed other 'nasties' along with the pirated operating system). If you clean install the new OS, then you do not need to stick with Win 7 Ultimate - you can go for the cheaper Home Premium, unless you need access to Domain-based networks.
ALWAYS buy your software from a recognised vendor - not from an auction site!

    1) buy a retail Windows 7 Upgrade - you can install this as a clean install (using the procedure here http://www.winsupersite.com/win7/clean_install_upgrade_media.asp)
    2) buy a Retail Windows Full version - and clean install it, or (if you buy the Ultimate edition) use the key from that in the current installation
    3) Buy a Get Genuine Kit from MS, by following the links on the notification - this is a full Retail version, with a License restricting its use to the affected computer. You get the key by email almost immediately, and the disks a few days later.
    4) (and NOT recommended - but 'doable', and the cheapest option) buy  a Windows 7 OEM kit, and install that. Note that this license restricts its use to the computer on which it is first installed, so when the computer dies, so does the license! You can ONLY do a clean install with an OEM license.

The only two ways to get the Office install legal are to either buy an Office Genuine Kit from MS, or uninstall it, and then install a legal copy.

HTH - post back if you need more
