  • Hi again,

the problem with ICE when creating panorama, is that the software doesn't merge the photos automatically with things that look the same and match together. Now you need to to everything manually and the "Auto" option does everything wrong...

That website show the process :

In ICE you have too much options and features and that's good, but not if you just want to make a normal panorama.

ICE developers, should take example on these softwares :

    Thank you

  • Thanks for the feedback. You're right, we should really provide more help to beginning users... We hoped to create some tutorial videos, but we have not had time yet.

I downloaded your original photos, and I noticed that they are all a little blurry, so I'm not surprised that the output panorama is also a bit blurry.  However, I think that both of your panoramas (the cylindrical and stereographic projections) look very good.

Note that some of the projections have more than one name -- there is no well-defined standard, and therefore you will see some web sites and software use "equirectangular" for the projection labeled "spherical" in ICE, and likewise, "rectilinear" projection is the same as ICE's "perspective" projection.

The choice of "best" projection, as with many things in photography and art, is entirely subjective.  All projections are a trade-off between how much you can fit in the panorama and the kinds of distortions you get.  It's up to you to decide what you like best, and often it depends on the subject matter.  That's why ICE has so many options -- so you can control what's happening.

Finally, I hope you find ICE useful as you learn more about it.  I think many ICE users disagree with the statement "Everything's wrong with this software."

  • Thank you very much.

Sorry for the late answer. Yeah, it's a very good software, maybe make the possibility to change the type of projection easily to see which one is better before saving instead of starting again from scratch.

I don't really understand the layout (corner and direction) and overlap, because in other software all is done automatically and we just need to crop.

Also, is it possible to do 3D panorama like on ptgui website (Spherical Panoramas, gigapixel panorama, etc.) or photsynth?

Talking about photsynth, why on the preview website it's only videos? It's kind of videos make with photos or from a video itself...
