In the
SQL Server Security fourm I did a search for
public. That returned 320 hits. As I read through them I noticed that many of the titles looked the same so I started to investigate.
On page 3 of my results (101-150) there is a result with the titile SQL
Server Roles that has the following URL
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlsecurity/thread/90d908fa-5e89-4bcb-8353-f795ce8386bb/On page 4 of my results the same hit appears with the same URL. There are only about 6 results returned between the two hits. This is not the only duplicate that showe up. It is as if I am getting a hit for each time the word
public showed in any of the posts in the thread, but the URL always points to the top of the thread.
If the idea is to show each post as opposed to thread, then the URL should have a bookmark etc that goes directly to the post in question. I believe that the better behavior would be to simply have one hit per thread. It would unclutter the result of the search.
IE 8, Vista x64 SP2.
