Security update for Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 RRS feed

    hello,

     

    yesterday i recieved the update KB 2542054 after i installed visual Studio 2010

    problem is the update utility always hangs when it gets to this update.

    I installed all other 27 updates sent to me yesterday, but this one.

    right now the windows update simply hangs with this update, the progress bar doesn't move and If i try to cancel it, the button grays out and nothing happens.

    I also need to do a hard shut down everytime i want to shut down my windows, because this updates attempts to instal before windows turns itself off. It hangs there as well, waited it 1 hour yesterday and nothing happened.

    And this is the thing that bothers me most, i gotta press the power button every time because the update won't install.

    Should i just forget about it and hide it or there is some sort of fix for it?

     

    I'm running Windows 7 Professional, SP1.

     

    I am also not entirely sure where to post this, so feel free to move it if this is the wrong section.

    same here on a windows xp home sp3 machine the update hangs and after manually downloaded the update, the VS10-KB2542054-x86.exe causes a bluescreen when started. any help would be appreciated

    I am having the same problem...this update hangs and when i stop it...it prevents my computer from shutting down.

    Same here, Win 7 64-bit.  Any updates?  Manual download and install does the same thing.

    What subcategory in that link should this be reported to?

    I've posted my KB2542054 problem on MSDN, and didn't get an answer.  I see nothing about this other than other confused people with the same problem.  Google shows similar results.
