Windows Vista Not Genuine or MS Screw UP? RRS feed

  • Question

  • After 2years my Windows Vista Business OS in my Lenovo Thinkpad  started to give me "Windows not genuine copy" messages. I entered the validation key from MS that was installed new by Lenovo and was told it was already in use. AFTER 2 DAYS AND 6 HOURS ON THE PHONE WITH MS TECH SUPPORT #1115595619 THE TECH GAVE UP AND INSISTED THAT LENOVO INSTALLED THE WRONG OS IN MY MACHINE!!!!  I called Lenovo and they confirmed that I did indeed have the correct OS factory installed. For what seemed hours on hold with MS I was treated to a mix of techno south westren hold music and commerical after commercial about how great vs 7 is..... I need my laptop for work and lost a great of time all because the WGA team at MS must have messed up!!!!

  • Hi Dan,

I did the diagnostic and my MS tech support agent was able to read it on my desk top. We also attempted the phone validation x3,
I did a restore (OS) and antivirus. With help from Lenovo I will do a complete hd wipe and start over tomorrow. My issue is that MS took out my computer with their WGA check and have no idea how to fix the problem when it targets a valid user by mistake. I have a friend with a new Dell with the same problem same time frame. Thanks for getting back to me can you tell me where to get a good price on an Apple?

  • Hello cpatrick1717,

If you want help here, we need the output of the mgadiag utility.

You wrote, "Can you tell me where to get a good price on an Apple?"  Answer:  Nowhere.

If you do get a Mac, give me the ThinkPad.
