  • I'm sorry to read that your upgrade failed. Either contact support or uninstall and reinstall OneCare, and run the cleanup tool before the reinstall - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=828910&SiteID=2

  • It's obvious that Microsoft has a problem and they want US to fix it.

I too am experiencing the Live One Care update problem and am ticked off that MS has left my PC vulnerable by turning off all the PC protection, including the Firewall.

Everything was running fine (as could be expected) until this update disaster. I would suggest Microsoft FIX THEIR PROBLEM and then get back to all of us with the little red icon sitting and glaring at us in the lower right.

It's like the little MS guy that comes running by a perfectly fine system with his hammer only to break something and run away. This is just why MS has a bad reputation... and it's getting worse.

But for now, just FIX this problem.

My PC (now a HubPC) had an issue, ...  During the upgrade the issue also may have been:

    • a) OE (Operator Error)
    • b) RTI (Read The Instructions)

because I did it almost w/o looking, assuming everything was hunky-dory.

My son's PC has a lot of video games, alternate gaming keyboard, a lot of software installed at start-up; OneCare 2.0 Upgrade went fine.  So, ... ?

I'm not sure why the Start menu entry for OneCare was not removed by the cleanup tool, but the Safety Scanner and the installed PC version are not the same. the safety scanner is the AciveX control that comes from the free online scanner.

Synchronized: installed OneCare ≠  Online OneCare safety scanner (ActiveX)

Online OneCare safety scanner was used before OneCare subscription started.  This may/may not help.  Thought about what the Scanner was before moving ahead.

Online OneCare safety scanner helped me decide to move away from McAfee security software suite for two of the systems here.  My wife still has not changed.  Thank you.  SG-->
