Alter my physical memory? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Since I have been following similar threads and have yet to see an answer to this question, I am reposting it.  Why does WGA try to read and modify my physical memory settings?  Since I have read this problem from people using more than one firewall program, I doubt that it is a false reading from Zone Alarm.  This is not only an annoying problem but a large flaw in the program as well.  Could somebody there at MS actually answer this question?

  • Brett,

IIRC, this is referring to how Zone Alarm warns you about programs reading the contents of the BIOS.  The WGA Notifications Tool takes a look at the computer's BIOS among other hardware characteristics and identifiers.

Hopefully the MS guys will reply to either confirm the above or gve us the correct info.  They have been very diligent in keeping up with th forum.
