Windows update not service not running but fixit says it is repaired.

  Windows update not service not running but fixit says it  is repaired.  When I run Fixit it says two items were repaired.  When I try to run Windows Updates, I get a message that the service is not running.  What can I do to get it running?  I bought some software that I can't install until this is fixed.
