Getting the "Not Genuine" message with Office 2003 even though report says it is [and I know it is] genuine

Question
-
I had a version of Office Pro 2003 that MS said was not genuine. I uninstalled that version, and installed a student version that I know is genuine.
When I opened Outlook, it told me that the version was NOT genuine. So I ran the report and here are the results.

Hello bigdog4721,
Here is a snippet of your mgadiag report:
OGA Data-->
Office Status: 100 Genuine
Microsoft Office Standard Edition 2003 - 100 Genuine
OGA Version: Registered, 2.0.48.0
Signed By: Microsoft
Office Diagnostics: B4D0AA8B-604-645_025D1FF3-230-1_E2AD56EA-765-d003_E2AD56EA-766-0_E2AD56EA-134-80004005
As you mentioned, the current installation of Office Standard Edition 2003 is reporting as a Genuine installation of a retail license, so no worries there.
The remnants left over from the previous nongenuine installation have to be cleaned out so that the OGA Notifier utility can recognize that the installed Office is now Genuine.
Please follow the Methods in this MS KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903275/ Most people tell us that running the MS FixIt in Method 2 takes care of the problem.
After running the FixIt, restart the computer.
Open an Office program, such as Word 2003. At that point, you should be prompted to activate. Activate Office online normally, then restart.
Keeping Office programs closed for the moment, visit www.microsoft.com/genuine and click on the Validate Office button, and Office should validate normally.
Next, open several Office programs checking to see that you no longer receive the nongenuine notices.
Post back to let us know if this worked for you.
